WHY THEM? Pretty much any drunk-sounding band with a brass section gets described as “gypsy punk” these days, but we’re not even certain there are gypsies in Alaska (or at least there weren’t any in the Craigslist personals). It matters not, because the moniker is only kind-of-sort-of helpful when it comes to Stubby’s Crack Co. — they’re way more bent than the term might imply. And there’s something delectably off in their strangely erudite guitar brawls; when drummer/lead singer Orion Donicht growls “I’ve got a radical idea about the human condition,” you half expect that idea to involve him putting a pint glass through your face.

BONUS BIT! Described by Dusted as “drawn-out beer gut punk sleaze with sax” and by Razorcake as “the soundtrack to a hillbilly hangover.”
