Presto Pizzeria

Crust you can trust
January 10, 2007 3:36:56 PM

Any Boston College student knows Cleveland Circle is one of the best places to indulge in an array of comfort foods, including burgers, wraps, Chinese food, and pizza. But as far as the latter is concerned, Presto Pizzeria — known simply as “Presto’s” — is the only place in the area that makes pies for which the cheese fits the frame of the crust.

Satisfy the strongest of cravings with two whopping slices of cheese pizza and a medium soda ($5). Zesty tomato sauce sits between a crispy, thin crust and a thick layer of chewy mozzarella. But if “just cheese” is too limiting, you can add any topping for an extra 25 cents. And not to worry: the crust is strong enough to hold its own under the mountain of cheese.

In fact, the delicious crust is like the glue that holds together Presto’s famous “Two Footer” pies ($24), which can feed an entire college-dorm floor. Loaded with delicate tomatoes, sweet basil, and savory garlic, this monster will warm the hearts and stomachs of many for meals to come.

Larger appetites not in the mood for pizza should tackle the meatball sub with cheese ($5.80), dripping with rich tomato sauce and tender meatballs on a toasted sub roll.

And Presto’s has quality service to match its dishes. If the line is out the door, it won’t be for long. Just be sure to move out of the way when the delivery driver makes his way with a Two Footer box.

Presto Pizzeria, 1936 Beacon Street, Brighton | Open Mon - Thur, 10:30 am - 11 pm; Fri & Sat, 10:30 am - 1 am; Sun, 11:30 am - 10 pm | 617.232.4545.
