For his show “Faithful Departed,” veteran shutterbug John Nikolai gives us a number of late punk legends — enough to fill the umpteen inevitable CBGB documentaries in the decades to come: Joey and Dee Dee Ramone, Hilly Kristal, Ari Up of the Slits (to whom the exhibit is dedicated, on what would’ve been her 49th birthday), Clash frontman Joe Strummer, and Stooges guitarist Ron Asheton, among others. Hanging alongside them are other late notables who have inspired Nikolai, from Howard Zinn to Betty Friedan, in images that strive to capture their vision, integrity, and cultural impact.
